CEDX Tax · Finance

Deadlines, nexus and
liability — priced.

$320K of collected tax sitting unremitted, 38 filings open, 30 of them already overdue. Tax turns the filing calendar into a scored queue: every return carries its prep progress, its liability and its penalty exposure.

The penalty proxy prints its own formula: liability × risk × 8%. A $25K exposure is not a scare word — it is arithmetic you can check.

What it is

Three screens between liability and filed.

Nexus as a heat map, not a hunch

52 jurisdictions scored; the heat map colours 36 of them by registration risk. Tennessee at 98% and Pennsylvania at 94% are act-now red; the legend reads ≥75 critical, 55–74 high, 35–54 watch — click a cell for the evidence behind it.

Deadline risk with the penalty priced

38 open filings scored: LA City 2026-05 at 91% risk with $34K liability, Texas Q2 at 85% with $37K. The penalty proxy is liability × risk × 8% — $25K across the board, $12K after two prep levers.

  • 17 filings at ≥55% risk worth $325K
  • Due-in days negative and red when late
  • Prep percentage on every row

01 — Overview

The compliance position, unvarnished

Open liability $320K, 30 overdue filings, 8 jurisdictions on nexus watch, and a compliance score of zero — the ring does not flatter the book. Alerts price the work: 17 high deadline-risk filings at $325K, and 87 exempt lines needing a certificate audit sample.

  • Collected vs remitted weekly chart
  • 12 B2B lines with invalid buyer tax IDs, $13K
  • Do-this-next list, scored

02 — Filings

The calendar as a work queue

72 filings with period, form, due date, liability, prep and status. August 20 alone carries California at $42K, New York at $28K, Texas at $19K and Florida at $6.4K — one due date, four states, all prepped to different degrees.

  • 38 open · $336K · 30 late now
  • Liability and prep on every row
  • Amended returns stay in the book

03 — Deadline risk

Which late return to fix first

The risk board sorts 38 open filings by exposure: LA City twice at 91% and 82%, Texas at 85%, California at 82%. Two prep levers cut the simulated penalty from $25K to $12K — $14K of risk reduced, printed.

  • Risk % and liability per filing
  • ≥55% and ≥70% filter chips
  • Sim penalty after levers: $12K

04 — Nexus risk

Where you should have registered

The heat map ranks 36 jurisdictions by registration risk — red where the economic threshold is past, calm where it is distant. Expected exposure $14K, $6.3K after two registration levers.

  • TN 98% · PA 94% · CO 81% lead the map
  • 11 jurisdictions ≥55% worth $33K

Who runs it

Three roles get the filings out.

Roles, not references. We have no named customers yet, so nobody in these photographs is quoted, credited or claimed as one.

How it runs

A filing's life, in the order it actually happens.

01

Rate

Transactions are taxed as they land — 340 lines in the demo period — with exempt and zero-rate lines kept visible for the certificate sample.

02

Watch

Nexus builds quietly: the heat map colours each jurisdiction by threshold proximity, so registration is a decision you make, not a letter you get.

03

Prep

Each return carries a prep percentage; the deadline board sorts by risk × liability so the $25K penalty proxy is worked down in the right order.

04

File

Statuses move Due → Prep → Ready → Filed, with amendments kept in the same book — 30 are late now, and the screen says which to fix first.

One record

The taxed line is one record
across the estate.

These captures come from one demo workspace — Northline Systems — so the transactions being taxed are the same records the rest of the finance apps keep.

Questions

Before you pilot Tax.

Is the software on this page real?

Yes. Every screenshot is a capture of the running build and you can open the same build at /app/tax. It runs on demo data.

Does it file returns for us?

No, and the page does not claim otherwise. The build tracks 72 filings with prep progress, deadlines and penalty exposure — preparation is visible, submission is not asserted.

How is deadline risk computed?

Visibly: the penalty proxy prints its formula — liability × risk × 8%. Each filing carries its risk percentage, prep progress and days-overdue; two prep levers cut the simulated penalty from $25K to $12K.

What does the nexus heat map measure?

Registration risk per jurisdiction — economic threshold proximity, with ≥85% flagging the watch list. 36 cells are coloured from act-now red (Tennessee 98%) to calm, and each cell links to its evidence.

Is Tax audited or certified?

No certification has been issued, and nothing on this page is tax advice. What we can evidence about hosting, encryption, tenant isolation and production access is written up on the security page.
